Three more key defensive players off College of the Sequoias' most successful football team in a decade are moving on to the next level.
Peters, a 6-foot-3, 300-pounder out of New Orleans, is headed to Langston University, an NAIA school in Langston, Okla.
A two-time All-Central Valley Conference and two-time honorable mention All-Region selection, Peters had a team-best seven sacks and 12 tackles for losses among his 42 total tackles while helping COS go 6-5 overall and reach a postseason bowl game for the first time since 2010.
Peters, who was also named a second-team JC Gridiron All-American, finished his two seasons at COS with 81 total tackles, 18 1/2 for losses and 12 1/2 sacks.
Coverson (Macon, Ga.) has signed with NCAA Division II West Georgia of Carrollton, Ga. The 6-3, 310-pounder had 29 tackles, six tackles for losses, 2 1/2 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recover during his lone season at COS.
Carr (South-Bakersfield) committed to Kentucky Christian, an NAIA university in Grayson, Ky. The 6-1, 205-pounder had 17 tackles, including 3 1/2 for losses, during his only season at COS.
Peters, Coverson and Carr join sophomore defensive lineman Noah Wright (Lemoore) and sophomore running back Davonte Green (New Orleans) as Giants moving on to the next level. Wright signed with NCAA Division I San Jose State, while Green is headed to NCAA Division II Northwest Missouri State.
