Giants extend their winning streak to five games


The Giants are tied for first place in the Central Valley Conference with this past week's results. COS also extended their winning streak to five games with the trio of victories.

Tuesday at Fresno City: COS travel to Fresno to face their rivals in the opening game of CVC play. The Giants came back and defeated the Rams 6-4.

A pair of singles in the sixth inning started a rally that gave Sequoias the lead for good.

COS tied the game at 3-3 when Madison Montemayor's single, scored Madison Wedel. Alondra Zavala would single right after her teammate, plating Ashley Guzman for the 4-3 Giant lead. Josey Burke grounded out to second, but Montemayor crossed the plate on a fielders choice.

With a 6-3 lead in hand, Ashley Paradine would tack on one more run for COS in the top of the seventh with her double scoring Brittney Howard.

Guzman got the win, tossing 4 ⅔ innings allowing two runs.

Thursday Game 1 at Reedley: Sequoias opened up the first inning scoring four runs, and they never looked back. COS defeated Reedley 12-8 in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Giants strung together 13 hits on the day, and had the help of 6 Reedley errors.

Zavala was 3-for-4 on the day, while Adrienne Cachu was 2-for-2 with three RBI in the win.

Guzman got her fifth win of the season, pitching 6 innings with seven strikeouts.

Game 2: The Giants, again, jumped out to a first inning lead, and defeated the Tigers 10-4 in game two.

Breanne Tabarez pushed across the first run of the game with her double to right center. Tabarez was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in the win.

Cachu's hot bat carried over to the second game, hitting 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Paradine went the distance while striking out two. She also helped herself at the dish, batting in three RBI.

Next Up: COS will host Cerro Coso in CVC play on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
