Thomas, Jackson win events for Giants at Kim Duyst Invitational

Zaylon Thomas and Denae Jackson provided the highlights for College of the Sequoias, each winning events during the Kim Duyst Invitational on March 6 at Stanislaus State in Turlock.

Thomas (Las Vegas) won the high jump in 6-8.75 for the Giants men, while Jackson (Redwood) captured the discus in 41-2.5 for the women during a meet that featured four-year college competition.

COS' men's team also saw Berry Randle (McFarland) was second in the discus (150-0), Kobe Dennison (Porterville) was third in the long jump (21-10.25), Jeriel Thomas (Las Vegas) was fourth in the 400 (50.03), Henry Hagen (Woodlake) was fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.66) and Jackson Miller (El Diamante) was fifth in the triple jump (44-6.75).

The Giants' women had Elizabeth Bienvenue (Reedley) place 14th in the 100 (13.70) and 16th in the 200 (27.32).

COS returns to action March 13 as part of its squad will participate in the Jack Albani Invitational in Modesto, and part will travel to Los Angeles for the Occidental College Distance and Sprints Carnival.
