COS Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Mt. SAC Invite:
The COS Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to Walnut, Ca. last Friday and had a strong showing against elite statedwide competition. The COS women's team kicked off the morning with a 5th place team finish. Hartnell of Salinas was the only NorCal team to place higher than the Lady Giants. Coming in as the 3rd top freshmen in the race was freshmen Jojo Zorn (Monache) who ran an impressive 18:55 for 7th place overall on the 3 mile course. Following Zorn was Sarah Reid (19:52, 21st)(Exeter) Ariana Jasso (20:24, 44th)(Redwood), Monica Lopez (20:45, 51st)(Kingsburg), and Adeline Blair's (Golden West)(20:51, 58th) whose performances were key to the teams strong overall finish.
For the COS men's team Adam Gonzales (Redwood) led the team to a 6th place finish, defeating 12 other SoCal and NorCal teams. Like the women, the men were only defeated by one NorCal competitor, Hartnell of Salinas. Gonzales ran a strong race to place 12th in a time of 21:26 on the 4 mile course with only 4 other freshmen to cross the line before him. Coming in second for the Giants was Abran Ayon (McFarland) with a time of 22:44 for 49th place overall.
COS will next compete Thursday, October 29th as the team head up to Woodward Park in Fresno for the Conference Championships.
