COS Baseball earn end of year honors:
The COS baseball team finished their season last weekend after making it to the second round of the state playoffs before forcing, and dropping, a final game three against the state #1 ranked team San Joaquin Delta out of Stockton, Ca. But that didn't detour the Giants from receiving many post season Central Valley Conference honors. Five COS baseball players received first team All-CVC honors including pitcher Thomas Dunehew (Golden West) who went 5-0 this year on the mound. Catcher Dillon Kelley (Mt. Whitney) earned first team honors for the second year in a row after being the 2014 conference MVP and batting .340 this season. First basemen Joey Gallegos (Clovis West) earned first team all-conference honors by batting a team high .369. Utility player, and team captain, Blake Edmonson (El Diamante) is also a two-time first team all-conference selection. Edmonson played multiple positions this seasons including second base, short stop, outfield, and was the teams closing pitcher. Also earning first team honors was designated hitter Matt Cota (Tulare Western) who hit .298 after missing last season with a knee injury. Cota played during the 2013 season and the 2015 season leading the Giants in runs batted in during both of his seasons.
Earning second team all-conference honors was pitcher Jonathan Moliana (San Joaquin Memorial) who went 7-2 this year. Also earning second team honors was freshmen Corey Davis Jr. who batted .320 for the Giants this season.
Honorable mention selections included pitcher Reid Feeley (Tehachapi), infielder Flo Perez (Hanford), infielder Tyler Morgan (Golden West), and outfielder Treshon Holley (Edison).
