COS Equestrian Opens Season with High Point Team Honors
TULARE, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias equestrian team opened its fall season in impressive fashion, earning Reserve High Point Team honors at Saturday's second show and finishing as the High Point Team on Sunday in a strong multi-team field, that included Stanford University, UC Davis, Cal Poly, and Reedley College.
"It was a great way to start the season," said COS Head Coach Kim Pitigliano. "Our riders came ready to compete, showed great poise, and delivered consistent performances throughout the weekend."
Sophomore Maddy Nevels had a standout showing, claiming Reserve High Point Rider honors at the first show on Saturday before sharing High Point Rider recognition with teammate Elle Dawson during the second show later that day. Dawson continued her momentum into Sunday, earning Overall High Point Rider honors to close out the weekend.
COS riders dominated multiple classes, with Nevels, Dawson, Brenda Yocom, Maddison Cosme, and Suhey Gonzalez each earning victories. Several other team members turned in strong rides and top-five placings, highlighting the depth and balance of this year's roster.
The Giants' successful season debut sets a strong tone heading into the remaining fall competitions as they look to build on their early momentum and continue their tradition of excellence in the arena.
