Giants set to host Modesto, West Valley and San Mateo
College of the Sequoias' softball team will remain at home to wrap up the bulk of its non-conference schedule this weekend.
The Giants (7-5-1) are set to host Modesto (4-2) for a doubleheader at noon and 2 p.m. Feb. 20, then welcome West Valley (8-2) and San Mateo (15-2) for games scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, Feb. 22.
COS is unbeaten over its past seven games (6-0-1) after a 1-5 start to the season.
The Giants open defense of their Central Valley Conference championship at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 against Merced.
Audra Pratt (Golden West High) had led COS offensively, hitting a team-best .476 with six doubles, three triples and 13 RBI.
Genesis Rodrigue (Selma) is hitting .410 with 12 runs, Emily Ibarra (Redwood) is hitting .361 with seven RBI and Madelyn Duran (Tulare Western) sports a .343 batting average with seven RBI for the Giants.
Olivia Aguigam has been COS' primary pitching, going 5-4 with a 4.26 earned-run average and 85 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings.
