COS Swim & Dive Competes Against Strong Field at Hawk Invite
LIVERMORE, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias swim and dive teams wrapped up a competitive two-day showing at the Hawk Invite hosted by Las Positas College, continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
Facing a deep field of programs from across Northern California, the Giants turned in multiple top finishes, highlighted by strong distance swims, relay efforts, and key diving performances.
Women's Diving Performances
The COS women were led by standout distance swimmer Kenzie Hyder (Porterville HS), who delivered one of the top performances of the meet by winning the 1650 freestyle in 19:08.23, showcasing her endurance and control from start to finish.
In diving, Reannon Herrera (Porterville HS) continued her strong season with a pair of podium finishes. She placed 3rd in the 1-meter (209.55) and followed it up with a 4th-place finish on the 3-meter (181.85), earning valuable points for the Giants.
Men's Diving Performances
On the men's side, Chandler Bruton (Mt. Whitney HS) led the way in individual events with a 6th-place finish in the 400 IM (4:45.78) and added a 5th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.07), highlighting his versatility across strokes.
Bruton also competed in the 200 freestyle, finishing 26th in 1:58.51 in a deep field.
In diving, Jacob Hernandez recorded a 14th-place finish on 1-meter (90.40 points).
Upcoming Meets for the Giants
College of the Sequoias will turn its focus to the postseason as the Giants prepare for the Central Valley Conference Diving Championships on Saturday, April 11.
COS will then compete in the Central Valley Conference Swimming Championships, a three-day meet running Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18.
With conference titles and state-qualifying performances on the line, the Giants will look to carry momentum into the championship portion of the season.
