COS Women’s Tennis Captures 2025 CVC Championship; Four Giants Named All-Conference
VISALIA, Calif. – College of the Sequoias women's tennis team completed an undefeated season by capturing the 2025 Central Valley Conference Championship with a perfect 9-0 record in league play (15-0 overall). The Giants' consistency and depth set them apart in the conference, and their success was reflected in their conference honors.
Leading the way was Summer Herrera (Mt. Whitney HS), who was named the CVC Most Valuable Player. Herrera went won the CVC individual singles and doubles title, solidifying her status as one of the state's top players heading into the postseason.
She was joined on the All-CVC Team by three of her teammates: Sadie Avila (Hanford HS), Jaden Godoy (Dinuba HS), and Ruby Zambrano (Dinuba HS). Each played a key role in Sequoias' unbeaten season, securing vital victories in both singles and doubles.
All four all-conference selections—Herrera, Avila, Godoy, and Zambrano—qualified for the 3C2A Individual State Championships, which will take place April 25–28 at the Ojai Tennis Tournament in Ventura County. COS also qualified all three of its doubles teams for the event: Herrera/Orosco (Dinuba HS), Zambrano/Godoy, and Avila/Salazar (Tulare Western HS).
Before heading to Ojai, the Giants will compete in the NorCal Team Playoffs, beginning Tuesday, April 8, with the NorCal Quarterfinals. The NorCal Semifinals will be on Tuesday, April 15, and the NorCal Final on Saturday, April 19. Match times and locations are to be announced.
