VISALIA, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias men's tennis team closed out Central Valley Conference play with an 8-1 victory over Porterville College, finishing second in the league standings and earning a postseason berth.

The Giants set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1, Seth Herrera (Mt. Whitney HS) and Robert Dan (El Diamante HS) earned a hard-fought 8-6 win.
At No. 2 doubles, Kenneth Catalan (Lemoore HS) and Christopher Rosales (Mt. Whitney HS) used strong chemistry and well-timed lobs to control the net and secure an 8-3 victory.
"Our doubles teams did a great job executing," said head coach Martin Herrera. "Kenneth and Christopher showed great chemistry, and their ability to finish points at the net made a big difference for us."
The No. 3 team of Ismael Navarro (Tulare Western HS) and Daniel Gonzalez (Monache HS) completed the sweep with an 8-3 win, giving COS a 3-0 lead heading into singles.
Strong Singles Play Secures Victory
In singles, the Giants continued to build on their momentum. Robert Dan led the way at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while Tomas Mendez (Mt. Whitney HS) added another point at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
