COS Men's Tennis Finish Strong Season with NorCal Quarterfinal Appearance

LOS ALTOS HILLS, Calif. – The No. 7 College of the Sequoias men's tennis team saw its season come to a close Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 loss to No. 2 seed Foothill College in the 3C2A Northern California Regional Quarterfinals. 

The Giants, who entered as the No. 7 seed, finished the season with a 10-5 overall record and a 6-2 mark in Central Valley Conference play, placing second in the conference standings. 

Foothill took control early by taking all three doubles matches. The duo of Robert Dan (El Diamante HS) and Seth Herrera (Mt. Whitney HS) fell at No. 1 doubles, while Kenneth Catalan (Lemoore HS) and Christopher Rosales (Mt. Whitney HS) dropped their match at No. 2. Tomas Mendez (Mt. Whitney HS) and Ismael Navarro (Tulare Western HS) rounded out doubles play at No. 3. 

In singles, Foothill continued its momentum to secure the team victory. Dan competed at No. 1 singles, followed by Herrera, Catalan, Mendez, Rosales, and Navarro through the lineup. 

"Unfortunately, we ran into a very solid Foothill team today," said head coach Martin Herrera. "They executed well in both doubles and singles, but I'm proud of how our guys competed all season and the progress we made as a team." 

Despite the result, the Giants close out a strong campaign that included a second-place conference finish, a postseason appearance, and continued development throughout the lineup.
