Women's Soccer Heads to San Jose for NorCal Regional Playoff at Evergreen Valley
VISALIA, Calif. – College of the Sequoias women's soccer team is postseason bound and will travel to San Jose this Wednesday to face Evergreen Valley College in the first round of the 2025 3C2A Northern California Regional playoffs.
The Giants (10-8-3) earned the No. 24 seed after finishing third in the Central Valley Conference with a 9-5-2 record. Sequoias enters the postseason riding a three-match win streak and boasting one of the most balanced defensive units in Northern California, anchored by standout goalkeepers Haylie Brasil (Manteca HS) and Madison Lujan (Mission Oak HS).
Evergreen Valley (14-6-1), seeded No. 9, will host the opening-round matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. The Hawks finished third in the Coast-North Conference with a 7-3-1 mark and are led by sophomore Bianca Ahumada, who tallied 15 goals and six game-winners this fall.
The Giants are coming off a 5-2 win over Lemoore in their regular season finale, and finished the year outscoring opponents 11-1 over their final three contests. Freshmen forwards Jaya Laird (Hanford HS) and Ariss Ramirez (Clovis West HS) have combined for 19 goals on the year, while a deep midfield and veteran backline have helped Sequoias post eight shutouts and 214 total saves.
"This group has worked incredibly hard to get here, and they're playing with a lot of confidence right now," said Head Coach Brooklyn Morris. "They've brought great energy and focus every day, and I'm proud of the growth we've shown since the start of the season."
The winner of Saturday's matchup will advance to the 3C2A NorCal Regional Quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 22, to take on the No. 8 seed, Lake Tahoe Community College (12-5-4).
Game admission will be available at the gate at Evergreen Valley College, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. in San Jose.
