COS Softball Tallies 10 Hits in 5-1 Win Over Coalinga
COALINGA, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias softball team closed out its Central Valley Conference schedule with a 5-1 victory over West Hills Coalinga on Thursday afternoon. The Giants totaled 10 hits and scored in three different innings to secure the road win.
Sequoias broke through in the second inning, scoring two runs to take an early lead. The Giants added one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth, accounting for all five of their runs in the contest.
COS finished with 10 hits on the day, led by Emilee Santos (Corcoran HS), who went 3-for-4. Madisyn Benedict (Hanford HS) added two hits and scored twice, while Alivea Salcedo (Tulare Western HS) recorded two hits and drove in two runs. Jadyn Enriquez (Hanford HS) and Shelby Somavia (Redwood HS) each added an RBI.
Coalinga collected eight hits and scored its lone run in the seventh inning, but was unable to overcome the early deficit.
In the circle, Amanda Herrera (Immanuel HS) went the distance, allowing one run on eight hits over seven innings without issuing a walk.

College of the Sequoias will close out Central Valley Conference play with a doubleheader at Porterville College on Tuesday, April 21, with games scheduled for 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
